Contemplative in the Kootenays
March 24, 2018
The next gathering of Contemplative in the Kootenays is scheduled for Saturday, March 24th, at the home of Leah Seaman, just south of Kaslo. See below for directions.
Our day starts at 10 am and ends at 3 pm. We’ll be doing Centering Prayer (Surrender Meditation); lectio divina; walking meditation; and celebrating open communion at the end. We’ll once again be reflecting on the “I am” statements of the Gospel of John along with a selection from the Gospel of Thomas.
All welcome, beginners to adepts. Please bring whatever you need to sit comfortably; a notebook or journal; your lunch. If you have arts and crafts materials, please bring them–pens, paints, material, bits of wood, etc. Wear comfortable clothes and remember that we’ll be walking outside!
Address: 5050 Highway 31
Where: North of Ainsworth Hotsprings and South of Kaslo
Coming from Nelson/The South: Take the highway up the Lake toward Kaslo, passing the ferry terminal at Balfour and continuing North on Highway 31. We are approximately 13.4 km north of Ainsworth and just past Fletcher Falls. If you begin to see the one and only farm in the area on your left, you have gone too far, so turn around and watch for the “5050” sign and the driveway leading up on the east, or Lake side of the highway. There is lots of parking space and room to turn by our cabin and the house. Drive or walk past our old log cabin to the new red-roofed house overlooking the Lake.
Coming from New Denver and Kaslo/The East and North: Come to Kaslo and then turn south at the 4-way light by Mohawk Gas. We are 8 km south, past Mirror Lake and the long hill going up and through the rock cut. When you see the farm on your right, slow down and begin to look for our “5050” sign on the left (east) side of the highway. Come on up. There is lots of parking space and room to turn by our cabin and the house. Drive or walk past our old log cabin to the new red-roofed house overlooking the Lake.
