Contemplative in the Kootenays

February 24, 2018

The next gathering of Contemplative in the Kootenays is scheduled for Saturday, February 24, in Nelson, at the home of Jill Cowan. See below for directions.

Our day starts at 10 am and ends at 3 pm.  We’ll be doing Centering Prayer (Surrender Meditation); lectio divina; walking meditation; and celebrating open communion at the end.

This month, we will be working again with the “I Am” sayings from the gospels of John and Thomas. For those who missed last month, Therese DesCamp will be providing some of the historical background on these particular writings which many of us find, simultaneously, profoundly challenging and mystically profound.

All welcome, beginners to adepts.  Please bring whatever you need to sit comfortably; a notebook or journal; your lunch.  Wear comfortable clothes and remember that we’ll be walking outside!

 DIRECTIONS TO JILL’S HOME
Address: 2255 Bealby Point Road;   250 352-3250

DIRECTIONS:
Whichever direction you come from, turn up the hill at the Dairy Queen just by the Orange Bridge on Kokanee St. (at the east end of Nelson).
Go up one block; turn left on 3rd Street.
Go two blocks and then turn right on Gordon Road.
Go along this road about 5 blocks; you’ll be halfway up the hill. The sign on the left will say, “8th/To Bealby Point.”
Travel along this road a LONG way!  The name of the road will change from Bealby Road to Bealby Point Road. You will pass Bealby Point–don’t turn left toward it, but keep on going.
You will see a road cross the tracks and a stop sign, but keep going.
At the second stop sign (which is the end of the road), take a left over the railway tracks. This road goes down toward the water and turns back toward town. Jill’s home is the 3rd driveway on the right.
