Contemplative in the Kootenays will meet in New Denver on Saturday, July 28th, from 10 am to 3 pm. We’ll meet at Knox Hall, 521 6th Ave., just east of the one and only traffic light in town.
We’ll begin with centering prayer (surrender meditation) and move into lectio divina, discussion, more meditation, a short presentation on Acceptance in an Unacceptable World, and close with open communion.
Please bring your own lunch, a notebook and pen, and whatever you might need for “sitting gear” beyond a chair (we’ve got those!).
AT 5 PM, WE WILL CONVENE AT THERESE’S HOME (1305 Denver Siding) FOR SHARED DINNER. The dinner is part of the ongoing commitment made last June at the In-gathering to regularly check in about our commitments to live out our practice in service.
THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO ANYONE. Here are the questions that will frame our dinner discussion—please reflect on these so that we can all hear from each other and support each other.
+ How are you living your practice—what’s your primary form of service?
+ Are you able to live out this service on a regular basis? (How often do you engage in this; who does it serve; does it give you joy as well as being “work”?)
+ What, if anything, is getting in the way these days?
+ What would you like to commit to in order to deepen your lived practice?
+ How can the other members of the Contemplative Group support you?
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WILL BE JOINING US. WE WILL PROBABLY ORDER SEVERAL PRE-COOKED CHICKENS AND MAKE SALAD TOGETHER, SO IT WILL BE HELPFUL WHO’S COMING!!
You may want to bring your bathing suit along with your notebook and lunch! I expect we’ll have time for a swim between the two parts of the day.
WE SHOULD BE DONE WITH DINNER BY 8 PM. IF YOU DON’T WANT TO DRIVE HOME, PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN SEE IF WE’VE GOT ROOM FOR YOU HERE IN NEW DENVER!
